![]() I had a 30 Mpbs plan before that consistently delivered about 35-36 Mbps. Time Warner provides various plans, some up to 50 Mbps. I'm thinking that all the speed in the world is not going to change Time Warner Cable, the provider for earthlink cable The Extreme itself is capable of much faster speeds than your ISP can ever hope to provide. That would certainly keep things a lot simpler.ĭoes it seem right that using speed test I'm getting similar speeds, no matter if I'm connected via wi-fi, or Ethernet?Ī very good sign assuming those speeds are reasonably close to the your plan offered by your ISP. Thinking to leave as is for now- one 2013 extreme. People pretty much hate TWC and complain re speeds and getting ripped off, but that may be the same with all the companies. and the city of SD gets a portion of the big fees, so there's no incentive for change. I don't know if its worth changing to TWC without the earthlink / it's not like there are many choices here: the city has been divided up by the various companies. Let's say download speed stays at 15-16 mpbs. then it went back to the same drop outs, inconsistency, etc. (today, yesterday, after the equipment switch) also before I switched equipment fjor about 10 minutes, after tech support heard my complaints, etc. I'm "promised" up to 15 mpbs download, and with the new equipment, that's what I"m getting. I'm thinking that all the speed in the world is not going to change Time Warner Cable, the provider for earthlink cable- I'm paying for earthlink max (it's like time warner turbo I think) but there are no other choices after that, as is with time warner. Thinking to leave as is for now- one 2013 extreme.ĭoes it seem right that using speed test I'm getting similar speeds, no matter if I'm connected via wi-fi, or Ethernet? That's what's happening. I do not need anything like the former set up (one extreme / 4th generation) and two expresses- one used for Ethernet for a TV, the other used downstairs to extend the network. ![]() Changed out the modem, installed the new extreme. Hi Bob- Right before I changed out the Doxis 2 modem to a 3 with Time Warner, and complained to TWC re speed, there was a big improvement, but not consistent. ![]()
